The Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens and St. Corey Moore Jersey . Louis Blues all augmented their free agent classes by signing some European free agents. Numbers Game examines the signings of Petri Kontiola, Leo Komarov, Jiri Sekac and Jori Lehtera. The Maple Leafs Sign: C Petri Kontiola and LW Leo Komarov. Komarov is a familiar face for the Maple Leafs, a 27-year-old winger who was a regular in the Leafs lineup in 2012-2013 before returning to the KHL for a nice payday last season. Komarov had a strong year in the KHL, with Moscow Dynamo, leading the team with 34 points in 52 games, and he played for Finland in both the Olympics and the World Championships. Komarov didnt score much in his first go-round with the Leafs, tallying nine points in 42 games, but there may be more offence to his game than that. Usage would play a big part in whether or not Komarov is ever a factor offensively, but hes being brought back to Toronto more for his attitude than production. Komarov is a relentless pest, who hits a lot and gets under opponents skin. To his credit, he did have solid relative possession stats for the Leafs a couple of years ago. Heres the issue with Komarov, though. If he is capable of contributing offensively, and could fill a top-nine role, then it could justify the four-year, $11.8-million contract he received. If hes the same energetic fourth-liner that he was a couple of years ago -- a distinct possibility -- then hes vastly overpaid. Kontiola is a 29-year-old who was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2004 and played a dozen games with the Blackhawks in 2007-2008, registering five assists and, in that small sample, putting up great possession stats. In two AHL seasons, Kontiola scored 140 points in 159 (regular season plus playoff) games, before heading to the KHL, where he has scored 152 points in 204 games over the past four seasons, the last three with Chelyabinsk Traktor. He had 14 points in 16 games playing for Finland at the Olympics and in the World Championships. With that track record, its possible that Kontiola could contribute some offence for the Maple Leafs but, as a 29-year-old who has barely seen NHL action, he could also be a spare part. The good news is that, signed to a contract for $1.1-million for one season, hes a low-risk investment. If he wins a spot in the lineup and contributes, they can work on an extension; if he doesnt, no big deal. The Canadiens Sign: RW Jiri Sekac. 22-year-old Jiri Sekac was suddenly a hot name on the free agent market this spring after a nice season in the KHL, scoring 11 goals and 28 points in 47 games for Prague Lev, leading his team in points per game (0.60). As a junior, Sekac played a little in North America, earning zero points in eight games with the Peterborough Petes of the OHL as a 17-year-old before joining Youngstown of the USHL, where he scored 56 points in 96 games. Understandably, with that production, he wasnt considered a hot NHL prospect and went to the KHL, where he scored 21 points in 83 games over two seasons before breaking out last season. Signed for two years, at an entry-level of max of $925,000 per season (plus bonuses), Sekac is rapidly-improving and his potential drew lots of interest throughout the league, but it would be premature -- considering hes had basically one productive scoring season in three years -- to put big expectations on his scoring significantly for Montreal next season. However, if Sekac found a spot in Montreals top nine, maybe he could contribute some offence as a rookie. The Blues Sign: C Jori Lehtera. Lehtera, 26, was a third-round pick of the Blues in 2008 and has played all of 14 (regular season plus playoff games) in North America since, managing three points with Peoria in the 2008-2009 season. Since then, however, Lehtera has been very productive as a playmaking centre. In the past three seasons, playing for Novosibirsk Sibir in the KHL, Lehtera has tallied 39 goals and 118 points in 125 games (with zero goals and eight points in 13 playoff games). The 6-foot-2 centre had 12 points in 10 games at the World Championships this year, as well as four points in six games at the Olympics, not looking the least bit out of place against high-level competition. Coming to North America may require some adjustment, but Lehtera is going to have an opportunity to put up points right out of the game, slated to skate on the Blues second line with Jaden Schwartz and Vladimir Tarasenko on his wings. With quality playing time on a strong team, Lehtera could make an impact right away. 50 points seems a reasonable expectation, but theres upside beyond that if he can make a smooth transition. Lehtera is signed for two years, at a total cost of $5.5-million, a very reasonable price if he ends up fulfilling a top-six role for the Blues. His presence, along with Paul Stastny, allows the Blues to move David Backes and Patrik Berglund to the wing, giving the team outstanding depth up front. And though his comeback night didnt quite go to script, Bryant couldnt help reflecting on the work necessary to get back on that court -- and all the months of steady labour ahead to reclaim his game. Bryant had nine points and eight rebounds in his season debut, but Amir Johnson scored a career-high 32 points in the trade-depleted Toronto Raptors 106-94 victory over Los Angeles on Sunday night. Will Fuller V Jersey . They wanna make t-shirts about it and sell them at our next hockey game..DB: Wow, they want to make t-shirts? That sounds pretty amazing.MS: Yeah, I was also on the Top 10, I was number 1 today, so that was pretty cool. http://www.thetexansfootballpro.us/texans-breno-giacomini-super-bowl-jersey-authentic/ . The trade deadline is Monday, Mar. 2 at 3pm et/Noon pt. TRADES COMPLETED SINCE OCT. 1, 2014: Feb. 15, 2015 Toronto Maple Leafs acquire: F Olli Jokinen, F Brendan Leipsic, 1st Round Pick (2015) Nashville Predators acquire: D Cody Franson, F Mike Santorelli Feb.Something has to give in New Orleans on Sunday night and the struggling Saints are hoping its not their dwindling playoff hopes. Most observers considered New Orleans a legitimate Super Bowl contender at the beginning of this season but an all too familiar pattern has emerged -- the Saints simply cant win on the road. You can watch the game live on TSN1, TSN3, TSN4 and TSN5, beginning with Football Night in America at 7pm et/4pm pt. The good news is that the NFC South as a whole has been poor this season and despite a 2-4 record -- including an 0-4 mark away from the Bayou -- New Orleans is just one game behind division-leading Carolina in the loss column pending a Week 8 matchup with Aaron Rodgers and the 5-2 Green Bay Packers. The Saints are banking on a return to the Superdome to get them back on track. New Orleans is 2-0 at home this season and has won 10 straight overall as the hosts but the triumphs in 2014 were against less than stellar opposition -- Minnesota and Tampa Bay -- and the Saints needed overtime before disposing of the 1-5 Bucs back on Oct. 5 They are better than that, Rodgers said when discussing NOLAs record. They are 2-0 at home I believe. They are better at home. They have lost some close games. (They have a) very talented offense, a very talented defense and (are) very well coached. The Packers, meanwhile, have won four straight after a rocky start behind Rodgers, a legitimate MVP candidate who has 13 TD passes with no interceptions along with a a stunning 137.9 passer rating during Green Bays current winning streak. A-Rod also generally excels indoors, having started 23 games under a roof in his career with 56 TD passes versus only eight interceptions in those games. Rodgers extended another historic streak last week as the Packers continued their dominance in the month of October with a 38-17 shellacking of the Panthers. Rodgers completed 19-of-22 passes for 255 yards and three scores, joining Tom Brady as the only quarterbacks in NFL history with four straight games of three touchdown passes and no interceptions. Rodgers, who hasnt been intercepted since Week 1 in Seattle, also extended a personal-best streak to 192 pass attempts without a pick. Randall Cobb caught six passes for 121 yards and a touchdown, and Jordy Nelson made four catches for 80 yards and a score against Carolina. The Packers have now won 10 straight games in October and 16 of their last 17. I thought the quarterback play was outstanding and I thought, really, offensively, we did exactly what we wanted to do, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said. Conversely the Saints are coming off their latest road implosion when Corey Fullers touchdown catch inside of two minutes to play capped a late Detroit comeback to give the Lions a 24-23 win over the New Orleans. Matthew Stafford struggled for much of the game, but led two fourth-quarter touchdown drives for Detroit and finished 27-of-40 for 299 yards with two scoring passes and two interceptions. Drew Brees went 28-for-45 for 342 yards with two touchdowns and a key interception late in the game for the Saints, while Marques Colston had six catches for 111 yards and Kenny Stills added five receptions for 103 yards and a score in the loss. We had opportunities down the stretch to win the game and we didnt do it, said New Orleans head coach Sean Payton. Brees played particularly poorly in the fourth quarter, completing just 2- of-13 passes. Obviously we had a little bit more pressure, some man-to-man (coverage), Payton said. A few of those throw always that were smart plays and yet we had a couple of opportunities in there maybe to fit in there a throw. Those percentages they include that last drive where all of a sudden youre hoping to make a few plays but for two thirds of the game we were operating with the rhythm and efficiency we wanted. Well geet better at that. Derek Newton Jersey. The Packers have won two straight over the Saints and lead the all-time series by a 16-7 margin. WHAT TO WATCH FOR The Saints have actually been as explosive as ever offensively and are tops in the NFC with 437.0 yards per game, far ahead of Green Bay (325.4 YPG), a team which is also generally regarded as one of the best offensive units around. Brees in second in the conference with 1,916 passing yards but the issue has been ball security and New Orleans has a minus-eight turnover ratio, a stark contrast to the Packers NFL-best plus-10 mark. Its been a staple of how we play around the here the past couple of years, taking care of the football and being in the positive, Rodgers said. Mike (McCarthy) always talks about getting to double-digit turnover margin and we just there this week with plus-10. When you are taking care of the football like that than you give your football team a chance to win. Offensively we know that if we take care of it and we turn our defenses turnovers into points we are going to have a chance to win. For New Orleans, Brees has been pressing at times and trying to force the issue, a troubling turn for a veteran quarterback who should know better. I dont (think hes pressing), Payton said. Obviously people want to have the one interception back (against the Lions) but I felt like his decision- making and rhythm, I felt like his week of preparation and how he played all during the practice week was outstanding and hes going to be just fine. Hes the least of our worries. Rodgers, who is tops in the NFC in both TD passes (18) and passer rating (117.3), hasnt thrown a pick since Week 1 and is approaching 200 attempts without a pick. Hes particularly adept at extending plays and getting the ball down field to Nelson, who leads the conference with 712 receiving yards. Furthermore, Rodgers has been doing all of that without the benefit of a consistent running game as second-year back Eddie Lacy has been in a bit of a sophomore slump, save for one effort against Minnesota. The real story in this game, however, should be the defenses which are very identical statistically. Green Bay is allowing 362.7 ypg and the Saints have been 11 yards worse. Each team hasnt been able to develop a consistent pass rush, though, despite having big name players on the edge. Veteran Julius Peppers along with Nick Perry lead the Packers stop unit with three sacks apiece but veteran All-Pro rusher Clay Matthews has just 1 1/2. Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan thought he could count on a dual threat in Junior Galette and Cameron Jordan but only Galette has produced at times with four sacks. I have a lot of respect for them and their defense, Rodgers said. Talented group, they play really well at home, they put up a lot of points. You have to be expecting Drew (Brees) and those guys to be scoring points so we need to score touchdowns in the red zone and score some points ourselves. OVERALL ANALYSIS Each defense will come in with a similar game plan, trying to get the QB off his spots and away from a comfort level. When they are clean and secure in the knowledge that the pass protection is going to hold up, both Brees and Rodgers can pick any defense apart, especially on a fast track indoors. It is a fast surface. They obviously play faster at home, Rodgers said when talking about the Superdome. It is a really, really loud environment. Obviously Drew has had a lot of success there, (and) put up a lot of points there. Their offense has very high scoring potential. Defensively, every time you have a crowd that can back you with some noise it makes it a lot more difficult for the offense. The difference in what figures to be a shootout should be desperation and that points toward the Saints.
